Evidence and language
- Headlines must not be more accusatory than supporting evidence.
- Preserve qualifiers that materially affect meaning.
- Do not infer criminality, diagnoses, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, political affiliation or private conduct from weak signals.
- The existence of a source does not automatically make a harmful allegation safe to repeat.
Affected-person review
An affected person or authorized representative may request review, correction, contextualization, restriction or removal. The appropriate response depends on evidence, public interest, applicable law and competing rights.
